Digital exclusion refers to those who do not have access to the internet in the home. This affects over 1.7 million households in the UK, with people on a low income twice as likely to be offline.
With the Digital Infrastructure Grant scheme, we will help community organisations to invest in technology, so they are able to provide digital facilities to their service users.
Over 9 million people in the UK lack basic foundation-level digital skills to navigate our digital world. With so many elements of our daily lives being managed online - from internet banking to job searching – having the confidence and skills to efficiently use modern technology is arguably more important than ever before.
While we are delighted to offer free Digital Skills courses to ensure our communities have the knowledge to access all education and employment opportunities, this doesn't combat the fundamental issue of physical access to technology.
It is in these instances, we recognise Futures is just one component of a complex network of essential services. For this reason we invest resource in securing access to grants such as the Digital Infrastructure Scheme.
Our mission is to empowers all community organisations, ensuring our customers receive the comprehensive support they deserve.
Applications from Ashfield organisations are now being taken, with each successful applicant receiving £2,500.
The grant can be used for any essential technology such as wifi, devices, software, IT suite furniture, ancillary equipment and more!
