Predicted to impact 300 individuals by early 2025.

Futures, an organisation dedicated to improving employability and life skills, is on course to distribute over £300,000 in grants to Nottinghamshire businesses. With funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSP), via four Nottingham authorities; Ashfield District, Mansfield District, Bassetlaw District, and Gedling Borough.

To date, £257,000 has already been distributed to eight organisations across the county. The beneficiaries include Nottinghamshire Mind, Direct Help & Advice, Thrive Together, Aspire & Achieve Foundation, Bassetlaw Action Centre, Citizens Advice North Notts, and a third sector consortium led by Newark & Sherwood Community and Voluntary Service (NSCVS).

These community grants form a key component of Futures’ "Transform Your Future" project, which spans six Nottinghamshire council districts.

The project is designed to provide employability and life skills support to economically inactive adults.

The reason behind this approach is simple: economically inactive individuals are often difficult to engage, and many have complex needs such as mental health issues, debt, or insecure housing. By partnering with local organisations already embedded in these communities, Futures ensures that support reaches those who need it most.

These organisations have established relationships with vulnerable groups, making them well-positioned to deliver vital employability services.

Additionally, Futures recognises the importance of bolstering the capacity of the local voluntary sector, enabling these organisations to provide employment support and inclusive access to training.

Paula Graham, Bassetlaw Action Centre:

We are delighted to be involved in the Futures project it is invaluable to the marginalised groups of people that are befitting from the support of our services. This project had enhanced our offer to the community without doubt.
