We're excited to be working with Nottingham College to offer a range of Green Skills training courses free of charge, helping you to take the first steps on your journey.

Gain a qualification in Electric/Hybrid Vehicle Hazard Management for Emergency and Recovery Personnel with our course - perfect for anyone looking to get started on their journey, with no previous automotive experience required!

You'll receive three weeks of training and dedicated support, leading to a multiple-choice examination to assess your learning. 

On successful completion of the exam, you'll gain an IMI Level 2 Award

You'll cover skills such as:

  • Health and Safety in a garage environment
  • Removing and replacing tyres
  • Key components and operation of steering systems
  • Identifying faults associated with mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems
  • The purpose of suspension components
  • The components of hydraulic braking systems
  • The principles of ABS systems
    and more

There are plenty of opportunities to join the course available - so you can choose the one that best suits you:

  • November 2024, Monday 4th – Friday 22nd
  • January 2025, Monday 6th – Friday 24th
  • February 2025, Monday 24th – Friday 14th

This is an on-site course based in Ruddington - to be eligible for training, you must be able to attend the course in-person at:

  • Level 4 Apprenticeship in Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Practitioner
  • Level 3 Apprenticeship in Junior Energy Manager
  • Level 3 Low Carbon Heating Technician

Our advisers will be happy to give you the information, advice and guidance needed to make sure you're on the best path for you.

To be eligible for this course, you must:

  • Be aged 16 or older
  • Live in Nottingham City
  • Be unemployed or economically inactive
  • Have a comfortable level of English (high E3, preferably Level 1)
  • Have a positive attitude to work
  • Be interested in working in the automotive industry
  • Be able to attend the course at Ruddington Campus for 3 weeks

No previous automotive experience is required.
